Extremadura is one of the most beautiful cities of Spain. Particularly for those who love to spend their holidays in the midst of beautiful nature like a mountain region, there is no better place than Extremadura. This city has a long history traced to the Roman period. Thereafter Visigoths, Moors and Arabs also had their influence on this province. Extremadura is the first choice amongst tourists visiting Spain. The tall mountain regions, beautiful nature, many historical buildings, museums, parks are some of the many places which have attracted the attention of tourists.

A tour of Extremadura:

Before we start our tour, be assured that you will have an exhilarating experience of the city. The city is extremely beautiful. Now we head to the village Arroyo de la Luz which is about 30 kms from the city of Extremadura. Here we will visit the birth place of the great Fransisco Pizzaro who was the conqueror of this great city. The village and the places nearby have churches built centuries ago. There are museums depicting the sequence of events which lead to conquest of the new world. The 12th century Placentia is another place which is never missed by any tourist. The place near Extremadura has a township believed to have been built during the medieval period. There are many churches and cathedrals which were also built during the medieval period.

The interiors of these churches have works of paintings and some stunning mural works from some of the most famous painters of Spain.The other place of importance in the vicinity of Extremadura is the town called Badajoz. This fortified town is believed to have been found by Romans. The Alcazaba of the town is located in the nearby mountain. Tourists can trek to the top of the mountain to have a glimpse of the beauty of the town. Tourists can reach the top of the mountain by car as well. There are well laid roads leading to the top of the mountain.Another place of importance is the Albuquerque which is known for its huge castle. The castle is believed to have been built by the Romans. There is also a huge structure of a Church which is also believed to have been built by Romans.
